MPS Online K-12 strives to provide a non-punitive, safe learning experience for all students focused on positive well-being and mindset, to which innovation, inquiry, critical thinking, risk-taking, and flexibility, will help our students flourish and thrive both Academically and Social-Emotionally.

We offer a flexible learning environment where students are allowed to learn at their pace, and are also challenged with rigorous coursework.   All students will receive a nurturing anti-biased, compassionate, non-traditional education that embraces Shared Voice, Shared Perspective, Equity, Inclusion and Equitable Outcomes for all.
 

 

 

Learning day, instruction and teacher guidance

Grades K-5: K-5 students get extensive guidance and support from teachers during the learning day from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Grades 6-8: Middle school students learn with teachers in real time and through independent lessons. During the week, teachers meet with students for lessons, individual student meetings or small-group lessons, and office hours.

Grades 9-12: High school students learn independently with guidance from teachers through daily office hours, labs, small-group lessons, and individual student meetings.

MINNEAPOLIS ONLINE LEARNING MINNESOTA COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT (MCA)

SCHEDULE FOR SY 2023-2024

Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment - MCA Test will begin this month March 2024. 

The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment is our statewide normed summative assessment which summarizes what students have learned and retained over the course of each academic year to which students are expected to make yearly progress in all core academic subject areas and be able to demonstrate proficiency levels at the end of each school year.

MPS Online Learning students in grades 3 through 11 will be taking the MCA test in person at The Davis Center located at 1250 West Broadway Avenue North, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55411. 

Testing Schedule Grade 3 through Grade 11

5th - Science  on Wednesday, March 13

3rd, 4th, 5th - Reading and Math on Wednesday, March 20, Makeups Thursday, March 21st

10th & 11th grade - MCA Reading will occur on Thursday, April 11th, with make-ups occurring on Friday April 12th

8th Grade MCA Science will occur on Monday, April 15, MCA Reading and Math on Wednesday, April 17th; Makeups will occur on Friday, April 19

6th, 7th - MCA reading and Math is on Tuesday, April 16th, Makeups will be on Friday, April 19th 

MCA High School Science (biology students only) will occur on  April: 4/23-Tuesday, 4/24-Wednesday, 4/25-Thursday

We thank you for helping your scholars succeed thus far and we look forward to seeing all of our Online students participate in this year's MCA Assessment cycle.

Please know that snacks and or lunch will be provided the day of testing, we simply ask that you make sure all students have a healthy breakfast prior to attending any test sessions.

MPS Online School is a full-time* option for all MPS K-12 students as well as students across Minnesota!

Our school provides supportive, high-quality classes anytime, anywhere. We are like any other school with a community of students, licensed teachers and staff dedicated to the academic and social-emotional needs of students.

 

*Part-time options are available for students in 9-12.
